DESCRIPTION:The course is held by Prof. Dr. Tobias Schaeffter Head of Division\, Medical Physics and Metrological Information Technologies at the PTB Berlin. \nEach Wednesday during the summer semester \nhttps://www.medtech.tu-berlin.de/menue/studium_und_lehre/module/magnetic_resonance_imaging/ \n  \nMRI II:\nThe lecture will provide theoretical background to understand advanced encoding and decoding strategies in MRI. Furthermore\, biophysical properties and related quantitative MR-measurements will be introduced. Participants are expected to rehearse the content after class in preparation for exercises. The exercises focus on the calculation of practical questions and exercises at the computer. For this\, matlab-code will be made available\, which need to be modified. Homework will consist of specific tasks with calculations and programming solutions using matlab. The participants will attend a MR-measurement session.\n\nWorkload and Credit Points \nThe workload in total is 180 hours\, this is equivalent to 6 LP (1LP for 30 hours of work).\n \nModule completion \nThe module will be completed with Portfolio examination with 100 points in total which will be shared by homework\, a written examination and an oral examination. \n \nRequirements for participation and examination \nDesirable prerequisites for participation in the courses:\nMathematical background at the level of MS students in Engineering (Fourier transforms\, signals and systems\, linear algebra and notions of matrix theory). Knowledge of basic Matlab functionality is helpful The course is open to students enrolled in any MSc in Electrical Engineering\, Mathematics and Physics\n \nRegistration Procedures \nPlease sign up for this course in ISIS after the first week of the new semester.

SUMMARY:Ultrahigh Field Magnetic Resonance: Clinical Needs\, Research Promises and Technical Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Link to website \nGoals and Objectives\nThe symposium is from the community for the community. It is designed to provide an overview of state-of-the-art (pre)clinical ultrahigh field (UHF) MR\, to discuss the clinical relevance of UHF MR\, to explore future directions of UHF MR\, to foster explorations into ultrahigh field MR and to initiate local\, regional\, national and international collaboration and last but not least to provide plenty of time to engage into fruitful exchange with your peers and colleagues. The symposium is tailored to attract basic scientists\, engineers\, hardware professionals\, translational researchers\, clinical scientists\, applied scientists and clinicians with all levels of experience and expertise ranging from undergraduate and graduate students interested in imaging to trainees\, advanced users and applications experts.\n  \n\nScientific Program\nThe scientific program comprises 4 sessions\, all balancing technical developments and clinical applications. We are very much honored to present extraordinary (inter)national speakers including MR technology leaders and distinguished clinical experts\, all bridging disciplinary boundaries and stimulating the imaging community to throw further weight behind the solution of unsolved problems and unmet clinical needs.\n  \n\nPoster Session and Poster Power Presentations\nThe scientific program will be paralleled by a poster session. We wish to encourage those of you who are prepared to walk the extra mileage. The best posters will be rewarded with a poster award. Thanks to the communities valuable feedback we have also included 15 slots of 3 min poster power presentations in the program. This will give a large number of poster presenters the opportunity to be in the enlightening spotlight of the audience. We are eagerly looking forward to your poster contributions.\n  \n\nTechnical Exhibition and Social Event\nThe symposium will be supplemented by a technical exhibition\, by an open day of the Berlin Ultrahigh Field Facility (B.U.F.F.) as well as a social event.\n  \n\nProfessional Child Care\nOn a special note; many of us know first-hand how challenging it can be to balance the needs of our families with the mission to advance science. To this end we are very pleased to offer professional child care for the course of the symposium and the social event.
